Sky walked over to the window, peering out into the gloom. She waved away the web, and said "Are you sure?" Absent mindedly, she began tidying up the papers on the table. She was a bit of a neat freak. "I don't want me being here to put anyone else in danger.

[Shyla:]
The tap faucet screeched as I turned it off. "I'm the only one that lives here and I have enough...items...in here to keep anyone else out." With that, she waved her hand in a circle and then started up a fire n the small grate. Her pupiless green eyes gleamed among the embers.

Sky sighed, her blue eyes looking distant. She twirled a lock of her brown hair in her fingers, still staring out the window. "I'm sorry."

[Shyla:]
"For what?" I asked over my shoulder. My face began to sweat from the heat of the fire. I hastily brushed my hair out of my face to keep from singing it.

"I got you hurt and brought..." Sky struggled to find a word to name the men. "Them here." She brushed a pale finger along the windowsill, and sighed.

[Shyla:]
"Am I dead, bleeding, or harmed in any other way? No. Can those people get anywhere near my home? No," I said, running my arm under the tap agagin, then binding it with bandages to keep the swelling down.

Sky shook her head. "It's still my fault." She said sadly, her blue eyes starting to water.

[Shyla:]
"No it's not," I argued in a sing-song voice. I strolled over to the kitchen counter and dug some bread out of the bread box. I pulled a few slices of ham out of the fridge. While I was maing my sandwich, I looked over at her and asked, "Do you want anything.

"I'm good." Sky said, although her stomach rumbled quietly in protest. She hadn't eaten in two days. "Do you have any thing to drink, though?" Her throat was parched.

[Shyla:]
I nodded. "Check the fridge, I'm pretty sure there's something in there. I think anyway. I haven't been to the mrket lately," I said.

Sky nodded and hopped up. She opened the fridge, and a the blast of cool air made her shiver. She grabbed an old can of something reasonable looking, and started to drink.

[Shyla:]
I took a bite of my sandwich and smiled in delight at its flavour. I finished it off in afew ravenous bites and went to stoke the fire.

Sky looked enviously at the sandwich. "Actually," she said before she could stop herself. "Can I have an apple or something?" Her stomach growled louder.

[Shyla:]
I stoked the fire and walked back into the kitchen. As in, I took two steps. I rummaged around in the pantry and dug out a shiny red apple, which I tossed to Sky.

"Thanks." Sky caught it without looking. She raised it to her lips and took the first bite. Jeez, I didn't realize how hungry I was. She thought as she swallowed.
