Sky looked pretty envious. "I wish I could have seen it." Then she shook her head, and seemed to come out a daze. A crack sounded behind her, and she jumped. "What was that?"

I jumped around and pulled a dagger out of a small pouch around my waist. "What is it?" I asked, the edge of a snarl in my voice.

"I don't know." Sky said softly. "Hold on, I'm going to transform." She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. She quickly shrunk into a small robin hopping on the rock. Sky took off, and quickly surveyed the area. Seconds later she touched back down, and turned back human. "I can't see anything. Maybe something invisible."

So she's a robin, I thought. I kept my eyes on her as she flew. When she landed, I asked, "Are you sure you didn't see anything."

"Nothing." Sky said. Then she closed her eyes. "Wait." When she opened her eyes again, they were glowing. "There was a short of shimmer, pretty close behind us." Instinctively, Sky turned around to look.

I looked around behind me again. I had the dagger gripped so tightly in my hand that my knuckles had turned red and the intriquite design was imprinted on my hand.

"Somethings wrong." Sky said. "They weren't supposed to be able to do this for another year or two." She took a shaky breath. "We have to get out of here."

"Where I came from. They have certain...weapons that can make them invisible. And their after me. I don't think they know we're here yet, or they would have attacked." Sky said, barely whispering now.

"Okay, get close to the water and get behind me. The can't get nar the water without their footprints being revealed," I analyzed.

I stepped closer to Sky, dagger in front of me. Every inch of me was on the alert. My eyes scanned the area, narrowed almost to slits.

Sky shrieked, but it was muffled by a rough hand. Seconds later, she disappeared. A small, brilliant red feather wafted to the water, before a wave carried it away.

I whipped around, my shoes sending rocks flying. "Sky!" I screamed. I looked around, but nothing came in sight. "Sky," I reapeated, my voice wavering, hoping she would respond.

A mumbling noise came from behind her. Only a slight shimmer in the air showed anything unusual. A man cursed. "She bit me!" Before Sky came tumbling back into view. "I bit him." She said, a grin showing on her perfectly white teeth. "But lets get out of here."
