The dark wolf form of Rairi prowled through the desert, watching for any sign of the rare minerals buried deep within. Her nose was close to the ground, trying to scent them out. Her bright green eyes glowed in the darkness.
Rairi's habit of staying out late at night hadn't changed at all since she ran away. Not a bit of her was tired. The fact that she was more active at night also helped her avoid other people.

Saturn:
I glanced around, hoping to find a sheltered place to stay the night. I wrapped my wool cloak closer to my shoulders. It was the only thing keeping me from freezing. The worn, ragged dress underneath didn't help much. Up ahead, I saw something moving. "Hello?" I called loudly, hoping they could help me. I started to run. THen, I stopped short. It was a wolf. Please, please don't be hunting. I thought about morphing, then decided the wolf woul probably be more likely to attack a kitten than a human. "Hi," I stammered, hoping whoever it was wouldn't hurt me.

Rairi looked up, bright green eyes glistening. In a swirl and sand, a dark-looking girl stood in the place of the wolf. She laughed and said, "You're the first to not realize who I was. People can usualy tell from the red on my wolf form."
Rairi's eyes flashed for a moment as a thought crossed her mind. Why hadn't the girl recognized her? Everyone in the kingdom knew her no matter her form. Even the people from other kingdom's recognized her "masked" eyes and striped red tail while she was in wolf form. THe girl oviously hadn't been around long. Rairi wondered if she had any elemental power.

Saturn:
"Recognize you? Why on earth would I recognize you? We've never met!" I was totally confused, so my words snapped out a bit harsher than I'd intented. "Are you a criminal or something?" I couldn't help asking.

Rairi chuckled. "You could say that," she said discretely. "I walk the "blacker streets" as some might say. I don't exactly look like a friendly person either." She indicated her dark attire and russet colored hair. Her clothes were shabby and patched. She was wearing chain mail gloves and the hilt of a small dagger gleamed from the pocket of her dark denim jeans. She did look like she was about to jump someone.
"You're not from around here, are you?" she asked, notcing the other's girl's own attire.

Saturn:
I shrugged. "I guess you could say that." Jeez, what it really that obvious? I compared my torn dress with her attire, my blonde hair with her dark brown. And the obvious fact that she was armed and I was not. I guess I do stand out. I wanted to slap myself as soon as I said it, but the words slipped out anyways. "You can tell?" Great, I sound like an idiot.

Rairi raised a dark eyebrow. "Uh, yeah, a little," she said. What an idiot, she thought. She brushed a lock of hair out of her face.

Saturn:
I could feel my cheeks burning, and for once was grateful for the darkness. I had never told anyone since my parents died that I was afraid of the dark. "Do you come out here a lot?" I said, trying to get my mind {and hers} off of my blurted out question.

"Fairly often. It's dark, it's quiet, and it's away from everyone else," she said with a shrug. Looking up at the stars, she asked, "What are you doing here anyway?"

Saturn:
"None of your business!" I snapped. Well, the truth was I didn't know myself. I had to get out of my life and go somewhere where no one knew me.

Rairi's eyes glittered. Her hand fingered her dagger and she thought of detatching the other girl's head. "I don't think yelling is a very wise move," she said coolly. I eyes dropped to her dgger then flew back up again.

Saturn:
I glared back icily. This girl doesn't know what my morph is. I could be a grizzly for all she knows. I remembered a girl who was a grizzly. She'd hadn't had much control over her morphing, and went grizzly right in front of my. I fingered the scar she'd given to me, a long, red line stretching all the way down my left arm. "Stay back." I warned, giving off an aura of danger I didn't know I had. I narrowed my eyes. I could bluff all I wanted. It really wouldn't do me any good if this girl was going to try and kill me. Maybe buy me a couple of minutes of life. A kitten wasn't much good against a wolf.

Rairi's eyes narrowed as she analyzed the situation. She didn't know what the other girl's animal form was, but she knew it couldn't be too strong or she never would've obtained such a bad scar.

Saturn:
I looked the girl. "I know what you're thinking." I lied. She had to be putting piece and piece together and wondering about my scar. She must know I didn't have a strong form. "But I just don't like fighting."

"Sure." Now Rairi knew she was bluffing. She growled wolfishly. Fur began to slowly spread over her body and her ears migrated to the top of her head.
