Rairi's breath was becoming ragged as she fought to break the rock and to gain control of her wolf form. It was like being trapped in a cage and having the key an inch beyond her reach.

Saturn:
This girl was going crazy. Maybe it wasn't the smartest to provoke her...I took another step back. What am I going to do when she gets in?

Rair snapped angrily. "When I get my paws on you, I'll kill you," she snarled but all that was heard was more howling and barking. She kept slamming against the rocks and each time she pulled back, drops of blood dripped over her black paws.

Saturn:
The smell of blood reached my nose, and I felt sick. A cold breeze blew from behind me, making me shiver. I stepped backward, now completely in the tunnel. "Can't we talk this over?" I don't know why I was still trying to gloss things over. She would most likely kill me as soon as she got the chance.

Rairi heard a pitiful mewling from the rocks which infuriatred her even more. She was losing strength and blood. Since her dagger was mere feet away, if she passed out, it would be easy for the other girl to kill her. So she had to kill the girl first.

Saturn:
I briefly wondered if the only way out of this was to kill her. I spotted the dagger just outside the rocks. I pondered the notion for a few seconds, then shook myself in horror. Do I really want to kill her? I decided the answer was no. I would just cross my fingers and hope we never met again.

After slamming herself into the rocks again, Rairi was barely able to stand. Her breath was ragged and coming in short gasps. She knew she had precious few minutes of consciousness left, then her life would be in the other girl's hands. Either she would be killed or left to freeze to death in the desert.

Saturn:
I stared transfixed as the scent of blood overwhelmed my nostrils. The girl was losing strength. I wondered how long it would be until she blacked out. What should I do? I thought. Should I bring her back to town? I can't carry a wolf.

Rairi's legs finally gave out under her and she collapsed. As her furry body hit the ground, it sent up sparkly clouds of desert sand. She lay still, glaring at the kitten.

Saturn:
I swallowed, and took a step toward the wolf. Can she still kill me? Is she faking it? I decided to take a chance, and slipped out of the boulders. I stood there, staring at her, ready to back into the cave if she made a move.

Rairi snapped feebly at the kitten, unable to do much else. Her eyes were black with hatred and rage. But she didn't move from the sandy ground. If I could move, I'd have riped your fur off by now, she thought acidically.

Saturn:
I didn't think she had the strenght to hurt me, so I stepped closer, morphing back to human. "I won't hurt you." I whispered, hoping she understood me. "I'm going to find a way to get you back to town."

Rairi changed back. "Don't touch me," she spat weakly. Her eyes blazed with intense hatred.

Saturn:
Then I got annoyed. "Do you want to die!?" I hissed, backing up. "Because that's what I'm hearing."

Rairi groaned and dropped her head on her paws. She laid still as the blood dried and clung to her fur.
