I let my panting go on for a few more moments before I was sure I could speak somewhat normally. "Probably.......let's....let's just jog though......." Man was I winded. I never usually run that fast unless there's food on the other side. People were getting even more worried now that Hali had disappeared, and I knew if she or Azen didn't show back up soon, we might have a real problem on our hands.
Luckily the beach wasn't far from the Dias, so we didn't have to run anymore. A crowd had gathered in the sand, and I hoisted myself up into a tree to get a better look. I couldn't see the serpent anymore, but I could see a figure on the sand. "That can't be..."

I watched as Sevren pulled himself into a tree. "That can't be..."
"What? I can't see anything from down here." I craned my neck as far as I could, but I could barely see the sand above all the people's heads. Obviously the person had gotten across the bridge; there'd be a lot of people freaking out if whoever it was was dead, right?

"I think...I think that's Azen down there." There were too many people to be sure, but I thought that was him. What really bugged me was the guy that was coming from the bridge right behind him. "Who the heck is that?" Was he responsible for the sea serpent thing? What grudge did he have against Azen then? Aw man if he was gonna hurt him now that he just got back...

"Well, if you don't know him I probably don't. I can't see him though, so...yeah. Not much help there. Either come down here so we can go over to them or move over so I can climb up, too." I looked up at Sevren, not even trying to see over the crowd anymore. It was obvious that I wouldn't be able to see unless I climbed up next to him or we went up by Hali.

I climbed down, still suspicious about that one guy who followed Azen in. Hopefully I could get down there before he could cause any trouble. I was about to head down and try to fight my way through the crowd when I thought of something. Maybe something about that guy might trigger something in Kurt's memory. It was the only chance I had to find out if he was no good. I turned over to Kurt. "Maybe you should take a look. Python eyes are bound to better than mine."

Python eyes? Okay, this kid needed his head examined. "Sevren, I doubt there's any difference between your eyes and mine, but whatever." I shrugged and pulled myself up into the tree.
The guy was still on the ground; I have no idea why Sevren seemed to think that he was dangerous. A group of kids had wandered up to him, and one little girl I'd seen before but never actually met hugged him. He loooked so stunned it was all I could do not to fall out of the tree laughing. "Sevren, I don't think he's dangerous. A little girl hugged him and his eyes almost popped out of his head."

"Really?!" Kurt was, from what I could see, a pretty serious type of guy, so anything that got him laughing HAD to be funny. I quickly shifted to a snake and slid up one of the trees branches, getting a better look.
People were leaving now, and I saw Azen walk over to the guy and say something to him. He seemed friendly enough, like he knew the guy really well, so I didn't think much more of it. I dropped to the ground, turning human as I did so, and heard a few other guys from the Nest yell from behind me, "Hey Sev, Azen's back! He told everybody to go to the Dias!" I turned and saw that everybody was heading in that direction, so I followed. "C'mon Kurt!" I yelled over my shoulder.

I jumped down from the tree and followed Sevren (and the rest of the crowd) to the Central Dias. Everyone seemed a lot more relaxed now that Azen was back; that was a good thing - we didn't need anybody to start freaking out. "So, what do you think Azen's going to say?"
I hoped that Azen knew where Elsie was; Sevren had seemed really upset earlier without her around. Besides, she kept him from doing a lot of things that could get him killed.

"I guess we'll find out." I said, my eyes widening as we entered the main meeting grounds of the island. THe Dias stood in the center, and the area all the way around it was flooded with people. Everybody must have come here; I even saw a few toddlers from the Nest being held by a few dancers. Heh, and Azen kept claiming he wasn't the leader of this place.
