And there'd be even less coverage on the bridge, but I didn't mention that. My main concern was the bridge was over water, and I wasn't sure Jaydn would like that too well. "But doesn't the bridge lead over water? Are you sure you're up for that?" I still wasn't even entirely sure why he had come with me or agreed to help me. Noi that I wasn't grateful for it. But most of the mainlanders I'd seenusually wanted something in return for anything they gave. I wondered if Jaydn expected that of me.

I felt like an idiot; I hadn't thought of that at all. "Uhm. . .no," I said, grimancing at the water. 'I might as well try, I've already come this far. No sense in going back.' I sighed; d***it, why couldn't this be easy? [Then again, is anything ever easy?]

I quirked my eyebrow at him but said nothing further about it. "Well, whenever you're free to move on, just tell me. Or we could spend the night here if you're tired. I can go either way, it's up to you."
Out of boredom I changed into a snake and slithered over into the waves. I spun around some drifting seaweed, but after a while it made my scales itchy so I left it alone. Then I amused myself by flareing my hood and seeing how far the waves could send me backwards. Every now and then I stuck my head above water for air and flicked my tongue out at Jaydn so I could tell where he was (my eyesight wasn't very good, especially at night and after I'd been in water). I wondered if he was bored too.

I nodded, not sure if he saw the gesture or not. It didn't really matter to me if we went now, but resting for a while didn't sound like a bad idea. As Azen went into the water [as a snake] I layed back in the sand, stretching my feet out and putting my arms under my head. When a wave spalshed up over my feet I had to force myself not to scream as I jumped up. I layed back down, making sure I was well out of the waves' reach.
I closed my eyes, trying to relax [like that was actually possible when I was five feet from an ocean].

When a wave came up and touched Jaydn I couldn't help but hiss a chortled snake laugh. I was still soaked as I approached the area where the tide just came in and I changed back to a human. I built up some magic and used it to build up water around me, and tried my hardest to stay hidden. Without warning I let the magic loose and doused Jaydn with all that water, then ran for my life along the shoreline, laughing.

[Jaydn:]
I must have fallen asleep, because the only thing I remember before waking up [after being half-drowned] was looking at the sky. I gasped as the water hit me, earning myself a mouthful of sea water.
I rolled onto my side, trying to get the water out of my system without losing what I had ate earlier [it didn't work]. I sat up and put my head between my knees, trying to stop my body from shaking. My throat ached with each breath, making me wish [again] that we had brought water with us. My heart was still pounding in my chest; I took a few deep breaths [which hurt like h**l, I might add], trying to calm myself. 'What the heck happened?'

"Well you weren't supposed to swallow it!" I said, runing back after I saw he wasn't chasing me. I grimaced at the water and vomit on the sand and sent waves of magic over Jaydn to calm him down and get the rest of the water out of his lungs. It worked for the most part I think, but it also wore me out, and I had to work more to keep my eyelids from drooping. Maybe I had enough magic left to make the salt water fresh (and I wanted to kick myself for not thinking of that earlier)?
But, I decided I had better make sure JAydn was all right first. You think you're going to be okay?"

My shivers subsided slowly and my heart stopped pounding. I slowly lifted my head and nodded, not trusting myself to speak. Why had he done that? He knew I didn't like water, yet he still dumped it on me. Jerk. "What'd you do that for?" I asked, my voice [much to my disappointment] wasn't much more than a raspy whisper.

"It was just a joke and I didn't think you would swallow it!" I hadn't meant o hurt the guy, but seriously... Most people when they see a bunch of water coming at them they don't open their mouth. Of course, I also hadn't know he was asleep, so that might explain for some of it. "It was just a joke...you're so down all the time I thought a little joke would make you not so gloomy." I was glad he'd stopped shivering, and he was looking a lot better. I'm sorry........but, if you don't mind me asking, why do you hate the water so much anyway?"

I sighed; that really wasn't something I wanted to talk about, but I figured he deserved an answer after I freaked out like that. "When I was younger Shunji pushed me into the Oasis; I almost died. I still can't swim." I didn't look at Azen as I said this, figuring he'd either laugh or feel sorry for me, and I didn't want him to do either.

I didn't really know what to say at first. Finally I just spoke on impulse. Tch, well he's a jack***" I couldn't really think of a word better than that...and actually, I probably didn't want to. Going to the island must be really hard for him then. I thought. I still couldn't figure out why he had agreed to go. I mean, yeah I figured he was miserable here, but when I had asked him before it was just a shot in the dark, I didn't think he'd really go along with it. I sure as heck don't think I would have in his position...to leave my home and everything behind, even if it did make me miserable. Well, I guess I had tried to do the same thing on Ahnmik...
I wanted to ask him about it, but I figured I'd asked him enough weird questions for today, so I simply gazed out over the waves not saying a word.

//O.O//
[Jaydn:]
I chuckled, nodding. "Yeah; I don't know why he did. I never did anything to him; well, nothing I'm aware of, anyway." I looked out at the ocean, wondering why Azen seemed so interested in it. The way the waves moved made me feel slightly seasick, so I stopped looking at the waves and glanced back towards the horses to make sure they were still there.

AS Jaydn looked back toward the horses I followed his gaze with half-lidded eyes. "Are they still staring at me..." I whispered, figuring that would probablt get a good laugh out of him. Belittling myself to make someone else feel better wasn't something I normally did, but Anjay had done it frequently, and while it was annoying at times, mostly it worked. Jaydn and I were two different snakes though, in far too many ways.

[Jaydn:]
I chuckled and shrugged. "They're not even facing us," I said. The sun was slowly rising, making it increasingly brighter. "Do you want to keep going or do you want to stay here for a while?" I asked, not to eager to be travelling when it was going to be scorching hot out.
//Oh my gosh...this post took me forever. I'm totally brain-dead. That is the last time I read Twilight fanfics and then try to post. >_<//

"I'm completely fine with just staying here." THe magic still had me weary and I did not want to get anywhere near that thing unless I was well rested. I still felt terrible for the water incident, especially since he had told me what happened to him. But that one snake's name, Shunji, brought something else to mind.
"Hey Sev, how did you end up in this sand pit anyway? Were you born here and just never decided to leave?" My eyes widened as I caught the nickname I used. "Sorry, I didn't mean to call you that, I was thinking of someone else...." Although why didn't make sense, there was almost no similarities between the two....
