Seri surfaced, in her dolphin form, only her head above the water. The shore? She thought in surprise, I must've swam further than I thought. She glanced at the sky; she still had plenty of time to return to the Coral Castle before she had anything important to do. With time to spare, She shifted into her demi-form. It was similar to what the humans called a mermaid, though her lower half was that of a dolphin instead of a fish. She hauled herself up onto a rock just offshore to sun herself and regain her strength after the long swim.
She looked out at the beach; it was empty for the time being. She was glad for that-the reptiles could get territorial at times, especially around the sunning rocks. Even though she was still on the sea kingdom's land (or water), they might not be too happy about it. Secure in the idea that she was on her own, she reclined on the rock and closed her eyes, starting to sing a tune she'd learned when she was much younger.

The beach and water around her may have been peaceful, but dark evil lurked within the shadows. My my...a lone girl out of her own kingdom...just the way I like them. A slick black cat appeared out of a shadow from some near by rocks. It's gracefully walked over the sand not even leaving prints behind. It's deep yellow eyes watched the young girl closely. The large black tom cat walked behind some rocks, but what came from the other side of them was a very handsome young man. His pare chest glistened slightly from sweat on his pale marble skin. His black hair was slightly wet but had a tussled look. His deep amber eyes looked at her through a thick veil of lashes. His black leather pants loosely clung to his well tone legs. His black boots didn't even leave foot prints behind as he walked. Now then...how shall I take this... He asked himself. A small smile tugged on his lips as he thought to himself. His fingers lightly brushed the rough stone in front of his as he walked slowly over the sand. Suddenly a thought came to him. Ah...bingo. He thought to himself.
If Seri looked at the shore again she could see a body what looked like it had been washed up onto shore. It was a man and a very attractive one no doubt. His thick black hair clung to his peaceful face. His pale skin glistened with water and his arms were spread out against the wet sand. The water washed up to his waist and then back down again. Sand clung to his flawless skin and his smooth clothes. What had happened?

Finished with her song, Seri opened her eyes once and glanced at the shore again. She was surprised to see a man, perhaps a few years older than herself, washed up on the beach. She wondered how he had gotten there without her noticing. She had heard stories as a child about human sailors who heard singing of women in their demi-forms and crashed their ships into the rocks trying to reach them. Now that she was older, she wrote them off as pure fantasy, but who knew for sure?
She searched her mind of what to do if she saw someone washed up on the shore, especially if it was out of the sea kingdom. Go and help him right away? Get help from someone else? Let the other kingdom deal with it? She nixed the last two ideas. It would take too long to go and get someone else, and their were no reptiles around to help him. So, she leapt from the rock back into the sea, and swam up alongside him in the shore. He's handsome, She thought idly, gently brushing the wet hair out of his face, And looks so peaceful. I hope he's not dead...

When Seri brushed his hair away his eyes slowly opened. His deep amber eyes were slightly shadowed by his black lashes. His mouth opened slightly and he took in a deep breath. He looked over at her and gazed at her for a moment. "W-who are you?" He asked softly.

She did not notice when his eyes open, her mind focused on how exactly to help him out. She did, however jumped a bit in surprise when he breathed deeply. So, he was alive after all. "I'm Seri," She informed him, her voice quiet, "What happened to you? How did you wash up on this beach? She wasn't even sure if he actually did or not, but she could think of no other explanation for his sudden appearance, for the time being.

He closed his eyes. "I-I was...sailing back home...then...I don't remember." He said softly. He gazed at her and smiled slightly. "You must be my guardian angel." He said softly. His deep amber eyes didn't leave hers and his voice was soft a velvety.

"Well, I wouldn't say that," Seri replied, bashful as she often was. "I just happened to find you here." A thought suddenly hit her:she was still in her demi-form, tail and all. If he was a shapeshifter, like herself, this wouldn't be a big shock for him. But if he was a human, who knew how he'd react to her. "Where were you sailing to? Where is your home?" She did not switch forms just yet, waiting to see where he was from, hoping he hadn't seen-or was too out of it to notice-her tail.

"I'm from the mammal kingdom..." He said softly as he gazed at her with his deep amber eyes."I was delivering a treaty to another kingdom...I-I was on my way back then..." He put a hand against his forehead and frowned. "I don't remember what happened..."

"I wonder what could've happened," Seri mused, "The ocean's been so calm today...Its seems odd that anything would happen to a ship." He did say that he was delivering a treaty; perhaps it had been an attack from some enemy. She continued to think about ways to help the man out, but could think of none. She silently wished there was someone else around, someone who could go and get help. She'd have gone herself already, but she didn't want to abandon him.

The man smiled and put a hand on her cheek and smiled. "I'm not sure...but I'm glad you saved me..." He said softly and moved his face closer to hers. His deep amber eyes gazed into hers.

She blushed as he brought his hand up to her cheek. She smiled back at him, and locked her eyes with his. She soon broke the gaze, looking away, blushing deeper. "I just wish I knew someway to help you more," She said.

Seri's eyes grew wide in surprise at his request. She could feel heat rise to her face as she smiled coyly at him. "If you think it will help," She whispered, bringing her face closer down to his.

When the girl agreed with his request a small sly smile appeared on his face. He brought his hand to the back of her neck and kissed her passionately. As this happened black shadows lightly swirled around the young man. When he pulled his face away from Seri's have lightly blew on her cheek, black shadows swirled from is breath. "Oh yes...that kiss made me feel much better." He smirked.
This was just to easy. Duke thought to himself. Duke one of the kings top men was known for doing things like this. He would steal the hearts of those who set eyes on him and along with their hearts their elements as well.

Seri did not notice the shadows swirling around him; her gaze was focused on his. It was not until he kissed him that her body realized the danger it was in, and her talent began tugging at her to defend herself. But by then, it was too late. His dark element had gotten hold of her.
-What particular ways should the dark affect her-being bound somehow, or having to follow Duke's every order, or what?-
