Well what do you know, seems like everyone else was right, I thought, not bothering to look behind me. Obviously Jaydn could see it, but honestly, I really didn't need to. "Don't freak out, my magic just doesn't like to stay inside me. You're not a falcon, so it won't hurt you." Well, technically it could, but only if I told it to. And I wasn't too anxious to point out that fact.
My magic started getting restless again, so I let my hood out again, simply for the purpose of giving it something. to do. I patiently waited for Jayden to release his.

I wasn't sure if what he told me was true, but I performed a few quick steps anyway. Looking back at him, I said, "I don't think I have any magic." By the time I had turned around, Azen had let out his cobra's hood again. I took a step back, not sure what he was going to do.

"No magic?" If he was a shifter, this was impossible. Magic was the only thing that allowed them to change. "Jaydn, if you can change, you have magic. All shifters do. You probably not used to utilizing it, but you do so a lot more than you realize. Not just every time you change, but every time you dance your magic is used. Manipulating and controlling it are not within your range of skill, but it's still there, and it will respond to you if you call upon it."
"For example," I said, stepping back a little and guesturing towards the ground. "How about you change right now?" THis would crush any doubts I had on his identity. Well, most of them.

Listening to his [long] desctiption of how all shifters have magic, I had to admit that the idea was kind of weird. How would someone be able to use magic without knowing it? Obviously it's possible...
"Uhm, okay," I said. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, then felt my body begin to change. When I reopened my eyes, I was a black cobra. Looking up at Azen, I waited for him to comment on the scar that ran down the length of my serpent body. Everybody did; and not all of them were nice about it, either. Jerks. I opened my mouth and let out a small [and hopefully non-threatening] hiss, but realized that I'd just shown Azen another freaky mark on me. One of my fangs was broken off so it was only a stub; it looked ridiculous.

My eyes widened as I took in Jaydn's cobra form. Scales as black as Keisha (and believe me, I know), garnet eyes to match...it made me see again just how different I was. THe only alterations were a scar that matched the one that had been on his arm, and a broken fang that I could only guess at what happened to it.
To be fair, I whisked a bit of magic back into me and melted into my own serpent form. I felt the Cobriana markings emblazoned on my back as my white scales touched the cool surface of the dais. I caught his smell on my tongue, reaching out with magic as well as sight and scent to compare the two of us. My hood spread at a slightly wider range, but he was much longer than I was.

//Nah, you're fine...god-moding is when you make your character invincible...they aren't even fighting...//
[Jaydn:]
I watched as Azen shifted, amazed at how white his scales were. There were markings on his hood that I'd never seen before; they were odd. I'd never seen a white cobra [or another cobra] before; did I seriously look like that? Well, not white, of course.
After observing Azen for a few moments, I began wondering if he was going to change back to his human form anytime soon. I didn't know if he cared if I did, but I was sick of being a snake. It's not that I don't like my snake form, I do, but I wasn't used to being in my snake form unless I was fighting, and all my instincts were screaming for me to attack him. I wrapped myself in a tight coil and waited for him to do something.

I let out a chortled hiss, which was supposed to be laughter. I slowly slithered over to him (my little cloud of magic changing into a line and following me) and peered interestedly at his scar. I flicked out my tongue again to smell it and send more magic over it. THere was some kind of odd magic there....something I hadn't felt for a while.....
I started a little as I realized what kind of mark (that's really the best way I can describe a mixture of scent and magic) it was. It was Maeve's! A white viper had done this to him!
I didn'tknow if he wanted me to know, so I played nonchalance and slithered back away from him. I did a few quick circles, offering for him to do the same to me, if he wanted. He seemed to be uncomfortable in his cobra form. I waited to see if he would come over to me or just turn back into a human, eyes hardly blinking.

I tensed as Azen inspected my scar, clenching my jaw tightly closed. When he had backed away, I changed back into my human form, trying not to make it look like I was eager to do so. I was sitting with my knees pulled up to my chest when I changed, and I suppose that would be the human equivilent of a snake in a coil [maybe...I don't know]. I watched Azen, waiting to see what he would do. His magic followed behind him as he slithered around; it was really strange seeing it.

I turned my head to the side a little as Jayden changed back into a human. I couldn't figure out why he didn't like being in snake form. Maybe his scar or that one fang brought back too many bad memories, I don't know.
Regardless, I spun a couple more times, relishing the feel of my scales on the stone, then went back to a human myself. I had timed it so I was just turning to face him when the phasing was done. But now, I was unsure of how to go on. I'd done very few callings in my life, definately not enough to show Jaydn how to do one. Should I just start off with a sakkri and branch off from what I knew or start off with what I knew and spin it into a sakkri? Ah, I wish Hali was here, she could tell me how to do it.

I waited for Azen to say something, but he didn't. I looked up at him from where I was on the floor of the dais, wondering if he was going to start doing the calling. A few more minutes passed and he hadn't done anything, so I said, "Are we going to do anything or not?"
There's a time for compromise; it's called "later". JAYDN HAS A HOOD! Meet Izzy.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "Well it's.....it's sort of.....complicated." There were so many variables to consider with to consider with a calling. Did you have the right amount of power, the right steps, the right snakes (some just can't do it). And then even if it does work, I had no way to garuntee that we would catch a spirit that would really be any help to us. Some maybe even worse.
"Jaydn.....I'm going to warn you about this once and once only. A calling allows you to communicate with spirits, yes, but......I haven't mastered them really. Which means....that I have no idea what spirit we may call." Before I had said that I had wanted to do the calling to see if he was capable of it or not, but now I really wanted to see if I could catch anyone that could get me home. Or, in the very least, someone I remotely knew.
"What mean is, we might call a spirit that's not too....friendly." I touched my own arm where his scar was, hoping he'd get the message of just how unfriendly some of the spirits might be. "Do you understand? If you would rather not do this, I won't pressure into doing so, but....I'd really like to find out what happened to me, and how exactly I got here."
I stared at him with firey red eyes. "Are you still up for this?"

[Jaydn:]
I grimanced as he said he hadn't mastered the calling, and that whatever we summoned might hurt us. Getting hurt was definitly not on my to-do list for the day. "I guess," I grumbled, rising to my feet slowly.
"How do you do a calling?" I asked. I frowned slightly, wondering if he even knew how to perform one. From the way he'd said he hadn't mastered it, I was guessing he didn't; but I could be wrong.

I sighed. He was taking something serious with a simple pinch of salt. Aright, fine. If we call anything bad I've got enough magic to pull out of it anyway. At least I think I do.
I released my hair from my own grip and walked into the center of the dias. "As I said before, the calling is a lot like a sakkri, so you'll start out the same." I demonstrated by crossing my wrists and holding them out in front of me. I then proceeded to go through the dance, telling each alteration step that needed to be added. I hoped he was listening, by all means I didn't want to go through the whole thing again.
By the time I was finished, more magic had spiraled out of me. "At the end you'll feel a kind of pull on you. Let it pull some of your magic out, but make sure you keep enough of it to stabalize yourself." THe more magic you gave the calling, the more powerful the spirit, but he'd already been near depletion, and I didn't think it would be a good idea to test limits.
"You ready?" I asked, then through gritted teeth I added, "I hope you know more about dancing than you do about magic."

[Jaydn:]
I watched intently as he went through the calling, memorizing each step. When he mentioned feeling a pull at the end, I nodded slightly, not sure how I'd control my magic. My shoulders stiffened as he mentioned my lack of knowledge about magic. "I've been dancing nearly my entire life; don't you get snippy about me not knowing about something I've only heard about! It's not my fault I've never seen magic before," I snapped, glaring at him.
My first instinct was to hit him, but he'd probably hit me back. My second was to turn around, leave, and refuse to do the stupid calling with him. "Do you want my help or not?"
There's a time for compromise; it's called "later". JAYDN HAS A HOOD! Meet Izzy.
"Dancing your entire life huh? Well, I've been dancing since before I was born." Technically that was true, since I was born from magic. "And I'm sorry if you can't keep up with the magic talk, but do you want me to act stupider than I am?" He was no different from the younger snakes on the island. THere was something in his magic though that led me to believe that he was probably a very good dancer.
"You're free to walk out if you like," I told him, shrugging. "If you have other things you want to be doing, that's perfectly fine." I shrugged again, and began to speak more nonchalantly. "This dance is probably way too hard for you anyway." It was the magic mocking him, honestly! I wondered if I went too far....
